Bob Wells, 68, of New Sharon, Iowa, died Friday, October 4, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

As an infant Bob was adopted by Charles Osie and Dorotha Adalee Gibson Wells. He graduated from Harrah High School in Harrah, Oklahoma, with the class of 1963. He furthered his education at Oklahoma State University, earning B.S. and M.S. degrees in agricultural economics. Early on he worked for University of Missouri Extension as a farm management specialist. He then took a position with Iowa State University Extension as field specialist in farm management and agribusiness, where he was working until the time of his death.

Bob was passionate about agriculture and preserving our nation's food source. He was one of the founding members of the national leadership program for Annie's Project. Annie's Project's mission is to empower farm women to be better business managers and partners. He could also be heard on the radio discussing agriculture-related topics.

Bob was an avid Oklahoma State fan. He enjoyed cheering for the Cowboys in every sport. He delighted in spending time with his family. He enjoyed visiting with people and could talk to anyone. He had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around.

His family includes his three children, Lisa Wells of Saudi Arabia, James (& Roberta) Wells of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jennafer Wells of St. Louis, Missouri; his fiancée, Jackie Cherry of Blue Mountain, Arkansas; a stepson, Jason (& Amanda) Cherry of Frankfort, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Nickolas Cavendish, Kassidy Cavendish, Cody Cherry, Shaianne Cherry, Jason Cherry, Jr., Colton Gordon, and Connor Gordon; a sister, Sherry Wells of Plano, Texas; and several cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Charles Wells.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 7, 2013, at 3 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel from 1:30 until service time on Monday to greet friends and relatives. Following the services in Oskaloosa, Bob will be taken to Blackwell, Oklahoma. A funeral ceremony will be held there on Friday, October 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Braman Cemetery at Braman, Oklahoma.
