Deceased Name: GEORGE MARTIN SIMPSON
George Martin Simpson, a retired Air Force officer and industrial engineer, died Friday of heart failure at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was 71. Mr. Simpson was bom in Memphis, Tenn., and lived in SlideIl for the past 24 years. He spent 29 years in the Air Force, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He fought in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He commanded the 90th Attack Squadron and was a fighter test pilot. Survivors include his wife Florence Camille Phillips Simpson; two sons, John Morgan Simpson of Potomac, Md., and Mark Hale Simpson; and five grandchildren. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell. Visitation will be today from 7 to 10 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Biloxi, Miss.
