Cecil Hicks, 65, died at his residence on Friday, October 4, 2013. Mr. Hicks was the son of the late James Paul and Louise Anderson Hicks. He was also preceded in death by two sisters.
Mr. Hicks was an Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was the owner/operator of Southern Air Heating and Cooling and a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Geneva Hicks; three daughters: Theresa Hicks, Angela Webb and husband, Samuel, and Michelle Bailey and husband, Billy; sister, Hattie Scarborough; brother, Larry Coates and wife, Alma; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013 in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Larry Coates, Rev. J. D. Deaton and Rev. Robert Reynolds will officiate. Interment will follow in the Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery. The Mars Hill VFW Post 5483 will conduct graveside services. The family will receive friends between 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at 411 Paint Fork Road, Barnardsville.
