Marjorie E. "Marge" Mosher Whitten was the daughter of Clinton T. Mosher and Elsa A. Kind. Marge was born on the Mosher farm in the Town of Scipio. She attended the Bolt's Corners school, later graduating from Emily Howland High School at Sherwood where she was Valedictorian of the Class of 1933. Marge attended Wells College and graduated from the Auburn School of Business in 1937. Before her marriage, she was employed by the Hubbard Press in Auburn. Marge married William Jesse "Bill" Whitten on 14 October 1940 at Scipioville Presbyterian Church. Marge and Bill operated a dairy farm at Bolt's Corners in the Town of Scipio.

Marge was a member of Hiller Star Chapter #487, Order of the Eastern Star, and served as Associate Matron and Associate Conductress. She also was Secretary Pro-Tem of the Board of Directors of Camp Caspar Gregory. Marge was a member of the Bolt's Corners Cornell Study Club and the Home Bureau. She was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church at Scipioville where she sang in the Senior Choir. When her children were at Sherwood School, Marge was a member of the PTA, serving as Chairperson for a membership drive. She served as Town Clerk for Scipio for a period of time and as Account Clerk and Treasurer for the Sherwood Central School Board of Education and its successor, the Southern Cayuga Central School Board of Education. Later she was elected Inspector for an election concerning a proposed roof project at Southern Cayuga Central School at Poplar Ridge.

Marge and Bill spent winters in Florida following their retirement in 1980 until Bill's death in 1993. They are survived by two sons and a daughter.
