Carol Ann Hunt Horton entered into the "rest of the LORD" October 2, 2013 following an extended battle with cancer.

Carol was born to Rev. Frederick M. "Rody" Hunt & Elva Martha Glasgo Hunt (both deceased) December 11, 1945 and was preceded in death by her brother Robert M. Hunt. Carol was the granddaughter of the late Rev. Marie Hunt, who was very special to her. She is survived by her husband Rev. G Doug Horton, children Susan Rena Dawes Burns and Rodney Vaughn Dawes, grandchildren Joshua Tyler Shelley, Hannah Rena Dawes, Sarah Marthann Burns and Ross Monroe Dawes. Also, her step mother Rev. Helen Hunt, Mother in law Arlene "Omi" Horton, Sister in law Mary Grace Hunt, special brother in law Randall Dawes, Special Aunt Mary Nell Hunt Hudson, brothers in law Larry Horton (Tara) & Tim Horton, Step children Douglas Horton, Julianna Horton Mathis (Brian), Carrie Horton, step brothers Gary and Tommy Neal besides lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Carol became the church organist at First Apostolic Tabernacle at the age of 12 and served in that role for over 50 years. She also volunteered at the Putnamville Prison with her father as musician for over 20 years. In 2003 she & her husband founded Apostolic Prison Ministries, & for the last 9 plus years has worked faithfully at her husband's side in the Putnamville & Plainfield Prisons, ministering in music and sharing the love of Jesus as only a mother can. She was & is affectionately referred to as "mom" by countless men who have been incarcerated or currently are. In January 2011 Carol & her husband founded Beyond the Prison Gates Assembly in Indianapolis, an extension of Apostolic Prison Ministries, as a ministry designed to help those who have been or who are incarcerated to addictions, habits, lifestyles or simply just having been in prison as well as their families.

After graduation in 1964 Carol worked at R. H. Donnelly's until the birth of her first child. She retired early from Columbia House in 2002 after 21 years of service. Most recently Carol worked for Pitney Bowes in Plainfield as a CSR.

Her hobbies were sewing, ceramics & crocheted baskets but her true love was music, which she excelled at. She played accordion, piano, organ & keyboard. She was well known in Apostolic Churches around the state for her musical abilities and often requested to accompany ministers and groups to sing. Carol will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
