Robert Stevens Lipe, Jr. age 72 of Manistee passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at home.
He was born on November 12, 1938 in Manistee, the son of the late Robert S. and Margaret (Frechette) Lipe, Sr. Robert attended Manistee High School and graduated with the class of 1957. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Jan. 30, 1958, serving until his honorable discharge on January 31, 1962.
Robert married Mary Ann Brzezniak on Oct. 9, 1965 in Manistee at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He worked as a welder at Packaging Corporation of American in Manistee for several years until his retirement in 2000.
He was a past President of the Local #12585 and a member of Guardian Angels Church. Robert enjoyed fishing, brewing his own beer and making homemade wine.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Lipe of Manistee; daughter, Jennifer Lipe of Holland; son, Jason (Heather) Lipe of Indiana, Pa.; grandson, Sebastian Lipe of Indiana, Pa.; and Uncle and Aunt Dave and Darlene Petersen of Manistee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Scott; and two sisters, Marjorie and Leslie.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at Guardian Angels Church in Manistee with Father John McCracken celebrant. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Final interment will be at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
