John is the son of Willis Crutchfield and Julia Ann Alston of Chatham County. He is a brother to Henry, Simon, Henrietta, Jacob, Alfred, Louvenia, Relia, Patricia, Nancy J, Delia and Gaston Augustus Crutchfield. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral arteriosclerosis and neurosyphilis (no test result is noted on death certificate). He was a widower and had come to the hospital from Durham County. He was hospitalized only 16 days.
