Mrs. Henley was born July 26, 1922 in Huttig, AR and died May 28, 2014 in Ruston. Evelyn's sweet happy spirit brought joy to those who knew her. She loved her family and friends unconditionally. One of her pastors said her smile lit up the church sanctuary when she walked in on Sunday mornings. Raised by loving godly parents, she received Jesus Christ as her savior when she was a little girl and was baptized in First Baptist Church in Huttig, AR. She rededicated her life to Him as a young adult and remained faithful throughout her life. She lived the first 87 years of her life in Union County AR, except for the few short months in 1943 when newlyweds, she and her husband Lt. Ralph "Bo" Stockemer, lived in California. Lt. Stockemer, a decorated navy combat pilot and instructor in WWII was killed during a training exercise. After his death she returned to Huttig and stayed with her parents for a year before moving to El Dorado, AR. In 2009 she moved to an assisted living facility in Ruston near her daughter and son-in-law. The staff and other residents all said she brought "fun and happiness" to Russ House. Evelyn lived a full life. She remained involved with friends and family here on earth until she stepped peacefully into the presence of the Lord and her loved ones in Heaven.
