Mona Malone Steinberger

Mary Ellen Ausbury (spelled Ausberry in marriage record), daughter of Thomas and Lucinda (Nunn) Ausbury, was born about 1852. She married Samuel C. Sumerwell (spelled Summerwell in marriage record) on August 11, 1878 in McDonough County, Illinois. They had one son, Edward F. "Eddie" who was born in early 1880 and died July 10, 1880 at five months of age. A family bible notes that Mary also died in July of 1880 but does not give an exact date

Mona Gladys (Maye) Malone Steinberger, was born December 28, 1912, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Davison) Maye in Hamden, Ohio. She entered eternal rest on April 27, 1994, in Boise City, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years.

Mona and her family moved to Folsom, New Mexico,when she was three years old. She attended grade school and graduated from high school in Folsom. After completing high school, she attended a buisness college in Denver, Colorado.

Mona Gladys Maye and Clyde Malone were united in marriage, on September 2, 1931, at Raton, New Mexico. To this union five children were born. They made their first home on Mr. Clayton's Ranch, where Clyde was foreman for several years. The family moved in 1948 to Satanta, Kansas and later in 1956 to Manter, Kansas. Later Mona moved to San Gabiel, California, she worked for Light O'Lear, as a bookceeper until her retirement. After her retirement, Mona made her home in Boise City in 1976. Mona worked for Opportunities Incorporated, until her health no longer allowed her to do so.

Mona was very active in the Senior Citizens Center. She was a very helping and caring person.

She married Glen Steinberger, October 3, 1983, in Boise City at the Senior Citizens Center, in the basement of the Courthouse. Glen died three years later, in 1986.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Larry Maye, two sisters, Mila Allen and Ivola Maples, and one infant daughter, Mona Jean Malone.

Mona was a member of the Boise City Christian Church, and a past member of the Satanta United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rebeckah's Lodge #131, of Boise City.

Survivors include: four sons; Clyde Robert Malone and wife Maxine, of Stanfield, Oregon, Bud Malone nad wife Maureene, of Plesanton, California, Jim Malone and wife Jeannie, of Boise City, Oklahoma, and Skeeter Newton Malone of Syracuse, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great crandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were Monday, May 2, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. at the Boise City Christian Church, with Rev. Jim Parrish, officiating. Burial was in the Kenton Cemetery. The family suggested memorial to the Seinor Citizens Center. They may be left in care of the mortuary. Services were by Cimarron Mortuary.
