She was born in Windsor, Colorado, on August 5, 1925 to David and Leona (Laney) Rickman. The family settled in the San Francisco, California area, where she was raised and educated.
There she met a young Marine, David Stuart, and they were married on November 24, 1944. While there, she helped the war effort as "Rosie the Riveter", assembling fighter airplanes. After the war, they moved to Montana, and later settled in Mandan where they raised their three children, Barbara, Dave Jr., and Nan.
Sarah, also known as "Kathy", was a very spirited and talented lady. She was an excellent golfer, winning many tournaments and enjoying playing with her friends and family. On her 85thbirthday, her grandsons and daughter-in-law played a round together with her to celebrate her day. She was also an excellent seamstress, sewing most of her clothes and for others. One of her specialties was sewing costumes for community events. Her creations brought smiles to many. Sarah also served on many volunteer groups and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She is survived by her daughters Nan, Phoenix, Barbara, Denver, her daughter-in-law, Susan, Beulah, her grandsons, Ben and Andy, and granddaughters, Dawn, Margaret and Roma, and great-grandchildren Louis and Victoria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her son Dave Jr., her parents and several siblings.
