Douglas McNealy passed away on Saturday, July 18 in Hilltop Nursing and Rehab facility in Kerrville, Texas. He was born in Rocksprings, Texas on August 10, 1939. He was the only child of O. L. McNealy, Jr. and Loe Jobes McNealy. He was raised on the family’s Bluff Creek Ranch in Edwards County. He attended school in Rocksprings and graduated in 1957. He also attended San Angelo Jr. College.
He was a third-generation rancher and always loved the land and taking care of his livestock. He also leased ranch land in New Mexico for many years. After the death his parents, he sold his Edwards Co. property and bought ranch property in Schleicher Co. on Toe Nail Trail. At that time, he retired and turned his ranching operation over to his son Jay.
He always liked to hunt and fish and over the years enjoyed many trips with his buddies and friends. He was a quiet, private man but put a great value on his many friends.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Betty Strebeck McNealy, son, Jay Kevin McNealy and wife Sarah of Eldorado, three grandsons, Kevin Quade McNealy and wife Shauna of Aztec, New Mexico, Levi Jackson and wife Jamie of Seminole, and Cole Jackson of Eldorado.
Viewing will be held 1-7 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2020 at Nelson Funeral Chapel, Rocksprings.
Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Rocksprings Cemetery, Rocksprings, Texas. Pastor John Moore of First Baptist Church will be conducting the service.
Arrangements are under the personal care of Nelson Funeral Home of Rocksprings, Texas.
