Born Oct. 29, 1925, in Newton Hamilton, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Laura L. (Emory) Kelley. Her husband, Homer C. Rowles, preceded her in death on May 1, 2002.
She is survived by: one daughter, Sharon E. Scott, of Port Royal; three sons, Floyd H. Rowles, of East Waterford, Homer M. Rowles and wife, Audrey, of East Waterford, and Darvin D. Rowles, of Middletown; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Louise Rowles, and also by her daughter, Sherry Swartz. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Jean retired from the former Polyclinic Hospital where she worked as a nurse's aide.
She was a member of the Cross Keys Church of God, as well as a member of the Cross Keys Conservation Club.
Mrs. Rowles enjoyed attending auctions, shopping, and collecting baseball cards and dishes. She was an avid Phillies' baseball fan.
Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at the Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market. St., Port Royal, with Pastor Judy Rowles officiating.
Interment will take place in the Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Waterloo.
A viewing will be heldfrom 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
