Tradition says that Mary was born 12 Oct in various years in Sheffield, Warren, Penn but research hasn't confirmed this. Mary married Elihu Beckwith Kingsley, a much older man, on 20 December, 1849. They became the parents of 8 children. Around 1868 Mary took the youngest child, Archie, and moved to Michigan where Mary married Levi Leonard in December 1869. He died shortly thereafter, then she married William Amey on September 30, 1871 in Reynolds, Montcalm, Michigan. Mary claimed Levi's homestead and bought more land in nearby Pearson in 1873. Correspondence between Mary and her children in Pennsylvania is seen in the 1890's. Mary moved back to Pennsylvania in early 1902 to live with her daughter Rose after Mary's husband William Amey died the previous May. Letters between family members show that Mary was loved deeply by her children in spite of the many years they lived far apart.
