Albert W. Sterling
Capt. Albert Wesley Sterling, a lifelong resident of the Asbury section, one of the oldest and well loved citizens of the community, died at his home Wednesday evening, following a long illness. He would have been 94 years of age on April 3rd.

Born here on April 3rd, 1861, he was the son of the late John Nelson Sterling and Harriet B. Lawson Sterling, and the husband of the late Hettie Olevia Sterling.

In his early days Capt. Al was a sailor, with his brother Edward Sterling, who resided in Cape Charles, Va., for many years until his death. For more than 30 years he was connected with the retail grocery and meat market of the late T.J. Webb, later the Webb Packing Company. He had been retired for some years.

On both sides of his family he was connected with pioneer Somerset families, and inherited their independence and energy, and other fine traits of character which he exemplified during his long life.

Funeral services will be conducted in Asbury Methodist Church at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with the pastor, the Rev. Leslie E. Werner officiating. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, where Masonic graveside services will be held. Active bearers will be members of the Masonic fraternity.

Surviving him are four daughters, Mrs. Edmund D. Tull, Miss Mabel Sterling, Miss Harriet B. Sterling, and Miss Mary E. Sterling, one grand-daughter, one great-grandson, and a number of nieces and nephews.
