Marsha McGlon-Morgan (Steele) was born on June 3, 1939, and lived a full and active life until leaving this world on May 13, 2006.
She was raised in the south, until the age of 12, when she came to live in Seattle, Washington. Marsha had very close relationships with her grandparents, the Gebhardt's, who gave her a Christian upbringing which nurtured a strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and her passion for world peace. She called upon this faith throughout her life and endeavored to bring others to know, love, and trust in God.
Marsha was a truth seeker, lifetime student and continued to educate herself throughout her life. She earned a Master's in Social Work from the University of Washington, in 1979. Along with her M.S.W., she earned a paralegal certificate from the University of San Diego and her chemical dependency counseling degree. Most recently she was attending the Episcopal Diocesan School in Seattle, studying to become a deacon.
Throughout her life Marsha had a passion for peace, truth, justice, and opportunity for the oppressed. She worked tirelessly towards these causes. Everyone who met her knew exactly where she stood on any issue and could count on Marsha to make the right things happen. Her efforts will continue to bless us all due to her many accomplishments and her ability to awaken passion in others to carry on her good works.
In 1996, she changed her name to McGlon-Morgan to honor her grandparents.
Marsha leaves her legacy with her children, Ron (Shawna) Steele, Kendra (Jim) Geer, Elizabeth Linnell, and Bonny (Bryan) McMahon; her grandchildren, Ronny III, Travis, Danielle, Zachary, Natalie, Elexa, Jake, Chelsey, Jimmy, Christian, Kellen, Molly, Mindy, Meagan, Brady; and great grandchildren, Madison, and Emma. Other survivors include her siblings, Jinnette, Paulette, and Vicki, and their spouses, Jerry, Dick, and Dale; many nieces and nephews; many friends, fellow members of Peace Action, the Episcopal Church; colleagues and clients from her years as a social worker; and neighbors and the entire community whom she served until the end. May she rest peacefully in heaven knowing that we will continue her good work by caring for humanity and working towards getting George W. Bush out of office.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Joey Geer; sister, Cheryl; mother, Margaret, and father, William; and step-father, Paul.
A Funeral Service for Marsha will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2006, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 111 NE 80th Street, Seattle, WA 98115. A reception to follow at 2:30 p.m., and burial at Floral Hills Cemetery, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
