Andre Humberto Maloney, 17, Overland Park, KS, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2013 as a result of a stroke. Mass of Christian Burial will be 4 PM Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Church of the Holy Cross, 8311 W. 93rd Street, Overland Park. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be 7-10 PM Tuesday, October 8, and begin with a prayer service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Andre Maloney Memorial Fund, c/o Community America Credit Union, Acct. # 1298006. Online condolences may be left at www.mcgilleyhoge.com. Andre was born in El Paso, TX, and raised by his mother and grandmother in Overland Park. He was attending Shawnee Mission West High School where he was a member of the Viking football team, playing multiple positions with distinction. He considered it a real privilege to be a contributing member of the team which won the State Championship in 2012. Andre had committed to play football at the University of Kansas following his graduation. He played off-season basketball and participated in track. He was well- known for his athletic abilities. Andre had a warm, genuine, silly smile that made him an instant and enduring friend to so many. His schoolmates and cousins looked up to him as an example. He truly lived his credo-M.I.B. (Make It Big) and E.B. (Everyday Blessings). He will be missed daily, but loved and remembered forever. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Rosaelida Montoya- Cardenas; his sister, Ilse; his grandmother: Maria Luz Cardenas; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many, many friends.
