SSG Howard W. Duncan, 55, of Murray died on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his home.

Howard was born on July 21, 1958 in Calloway County. He was a member of Ledbetter Baptist Church, and owner and operator of H&S Truck Service. He was also CCDW Instructor, and a member of The American Legion, VFW, and AM-Vets and also was a Kentucky Colonel. He was an Inter Prentice Mason at Temple Hill Lodge #276. Howard entered the Kentucky National Guard on February 11, 1991. He was deployed to North Carolina in 1999 after Hurricane Floyd, to Guantanamo Bay for Operation Enduring Freedom in 2002, to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and lastly, to Iraq in 2007 for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Duncan of Murray; his three daughters: Missy Schmeing and husband Adam of Knoxville, TN, Sara Keyes and husband Jesse of Murray, and Hannah Duncan of Murray; his mother, Martha Hamilton Wilson of Murray; four brothers: Marty Duncan and wife Lori of Murray, Chris Duncan and wife Melanie of Dexter, Brad Cothran and wife Elizabeth of Sharp, KY, and Zach Cothran and wife Tammy of Hardin, KY; a sister, Cindy Duncan of Dexter; and a granddaughter, Kinsley Rose Keyes.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Emily Rose Barnett; his father, Charles Duncan; and his step-mother, Doris Duncan.

Funeral services for Mr. Howard W. Duncan are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Imes-Miller Funeral Home with Bros. Troy Deweese and Phillip Bazzell Officiating.

The visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Imes-Miller Funeral Home.
