Theresa was born, March 1, 1928, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Charles and Catherine Ryan Mullen and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Joseph Kelly on October 25, 1947.
Theresa was a longtime member of Holy Family Church, Altar and Rosary Society and was the CCD Coordinator for over 30 years at Holy Family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph in 1994; son, Kevin in 1999; and grandson, Brendan Kelly in 2006; and 9 siblings.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Stephen (Arlene), of Waukegan, Ill., Colleen (Bob) Schmida, of Omaha, Neb., Maureen (Terry) Schafer, of Conway, Ark., Shawn (Amy), of Papillion, Neb., Mary (Scott) Schwenk, Loretta (Neal) Schoening, Kathleen (Tom) Sweeney, all of Council Bluffs; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Debbie Kelly, of Council Bluffs, and Kathy Kelly, of Vernon Hills, Ill.; brother, John "Jack" (Velma) Mullen, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother-in-law, Quinn (Elaine) Kelly, of Omaha; many nieces and nephews.
