Ernest I. Boyington, son of Elmer I. and Lottie Newland Boyington, was born Oct 27, 1915 in Carrier, Garfield County, Oklahoma. He attended school in Carrier, OK. He married Bertha Field on July 16, 1935 in the First Baptist Church in Enid, OK. They lived in Carrier until moving to Enid in 1942. He worked for the W. B. Johnston Grain Company for a number of years and retired as elevator superintendent in 1967 due to ill health. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
An infant son, Jerry Earnest Boyington and a brother, William Eddie Boyington, predeceased him.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Gene (Patricia) Richardson of Enid, Mrs. Larry (Beverly) Guffey of Perryton, Texas, and Mrs. Melvin (Cindy) Whitley of Enid; a son, Erlie Boyington of Enid; seven grandchildren; a half-sister, Gladys Hatfield of Enid; a sister, Clyda Pearl Hixon and a brother, Clarence N. Boyington.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery on Feb. 18, 1972 at 11 a.m. in Carrier, Garfield County, Oklahoma.

On Apr 6, 1978 His remains were moved to Memorial Park Cemetery, Enid, Oklahoma near his wife. That same day, their infant son Jerry Ernest Boyington was moved to Memorial Park Cemetery as well.
