Arthur J. Boynton, 84, a native Elyrian and president of the A. J. Boynton Co., a firm of consulting engineers in Chicago, died suddenly Aug.17 in Dallas, Texas. His home was in Winnetka, Ill.

Mr. Boynton was born Oct. 31, 1876 in Elyria, was graduated from Elyria High School an Ohio State University where his grandfather Townshend was the founder of the College of Agriculture.

He was employed by the National Tube Division after his graduation from Ohio State and was superintendent of the blast furnaces and coke ovens for 25 years. He established his Chicago firm 21 years ago.

Mr. Boynton held life memberships in Iron and Steel Institute, Iron and Steel Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Bullock Boynton; two daughters, Mrs. W. J. Reynolds, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Mrs. Robert S. Burrows, Winnetka; two sons, John F. Boynton, Evanston, Ill, and Arthur J. Boynton, Jr., Orford, N. H; three grandchildren a brother, Sidney Boynton, Santa Fe, N.M., and a sister, Mrs. A. M. Emmerson, Acton, Mass.

Funeral services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Winnetka Congregational Church and burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery here at 11 am. Wednesday. The body is at the William Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf Ave.,
