He was born January 24, 1934 in Stokes County to Kelly Sidney and Lennis Abigail Williams Bowen.
Johnny was Minister at King Baptist Mission for the past 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Mary Sue Bowen, and two brothers; Ralph and Elwood Bowen.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years; Loretta Watts Bowen, two daughters; Barbara Delores Harris (Rex Austin), and Rebecca Bowen (Clarence) Kinley, three sons; Stanley Roger Bowen, Charles David (Diane) Bowen, and Phillip Russell (Regena) Bowen, one sister; Margaret (Dean) Angell, one brother; Tony (Elaine) Bowen, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday October 5, 2013 at Slate Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dean Angell and Paul Spainhour. Burial will follow in King Baptist Mission Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
