Father - Matthew "Matt" H. Broadnax (1888-1942, AR)

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Broadnax, entered into life on November 9, 1932 in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was the sixth (6th) child of the nine (9) born to Matthew H. Broadnax and Luella Ford-Broadnax. Franklin migrated to Oakland, California with his brother Harvey to join with the rest of the family in 1947. He completed his formal education in the Oakland Public School System and later attended Laney College. Along with his brothers and sisters, he joined Saint John Missionary Baptist Church and worked on the Usher Board.

Franklin (Frank) enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict with the Sixth Army Unit and was honorably discharged in May, 1952. He was employed asset Pacific Tire and Rubber until the plant closed and he retired from United Can Company after 35 years of service as a Master Machinist.

Franklin (Frank) was preceded in death by his brother Patrick Broadnax and his daughter, Roshun Broadnax.

Franklin (Frank) is survived by his wife; Shirley Rogers-Broadnax, sons; Darrel Broadnax, Carl Franklin Zzz Broadnax(Phyllis), Vince Broadnax (Vanessa), Terrance Broadnax and mother of his children; Wallace Ousley-Broadnax, brothers; Cottrell Broadnax (Vanilla), Leon Broadnax and Harvey Broadnax (Ruby), sisters; Mable Williams, Machel Cole, Shirley Faye Mitchell and Katherine Stephens, brothers-in-law; Buford W. Ford of Miami, Florida, Emjc S. Rolston (Frankie) of Nashville, Tennessee and CarlW. Rolston of Nashville, Tennessee, eleven (11) grandchildren, and six (6) great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives, coworkers, friends and neighbors.
