Laveta Jendrey
A memorial service will be held April 3 for Laveta Joan Jendrey of Sedona, Ariz., formerly of Eugene, who died March 27 of heart failure. She was 66.
Jendrey was born Jan. 3, 1938, in Scio to Jesse and Verda Polly Slover. She married Robert Jendrey in Woodburn on March 3, 1956.
She lived in Woodburn and Vancouver, Wash., before moving to Eugene in 1983. She settled in Sedona in 2003.
She graduated from Woodburn high School in 1956. She worked in the retail sales field and owned a restaurant in Vancouver. She also worked as a day care teacher in Eugene and owned Secondhand Treasures in Springfield.
She was a lifetime member of the Community of Christ Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling, hiking and nurturing others.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Chad of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Cindy Smith and Sheryl Redel of Ellensburg, Wash.; three brothers, Richard and Delmer Slover, both of Salem, and Sam Slover of Portland; four sisters, Marie Weigant, Delma Slover and Shirley Sundberg, all of Salem, and Luella Hawley of Independence, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
Saturday's service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church in Eugene. Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Affiliate of the American Diabetes Association.
