Georgia C. Roberts, 72, Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Tyrone, died Sunday at her residence.
She was born in Bedford, daughter of Roy and Willia (Grouden) Como. She married R. Gerald Roberts Jr. on June 20, 1964, and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2000.
Surviving are two children: Gregory A. (Ellen) of Bellwood and Gwendolyn (Mark) Harmison of Ripley, W.Va.; four grandchildren: Sydney, Alayna and Alex Roberts and Max Harmison; two sisters: Donna Heffley of Reading and Jean (Wendell) Barbour of Newport News, Va.; and a brother, Roy Como Jr. of Phillipsburg, N.J.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Como.
Georgia was a graduate of Bedford High School and Penn State University. She had been employed as a high school music teacher, first in the New Castle School District and then by the Tyrone Area School District. While in Tyrone, she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she had served as choir director for 30 years, and she also visited St. Peter's Church of Christ in State College.
Georgia was devoted to her grandchildren and family and loved animals.
Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, the Rev. Charles Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Blair Memorial Park.
