Rebecca (Susie) Grant, age 77 of Lenoir, NC passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012.
She was a native of Macon County, NC; she was the daughter of the late Emmit and Myrtle Grant Shields. Susie was a sewing machine operator for Hosiery Mill. She enjoyed fishing. Susie attended Briartown Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Shields and Steve Shields and two sisters, Chole Latta and Norma Jean Pearson.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Grant; two daughters, Audrey Dumas and Betsy Bolick both of Lenoir, NC; one brother, Cecil Shields of Granite Falls, NC; two sisters, Margaret (Gay) West of Andrews, NC and Ann Shields of Bryson City, NC; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Eddie Cook will officiate. Burial will be in the Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alan Bolick, Josh Sanders, Ryan Biddix, Steve Grant, Talmadge Henry and Chris Shields.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, January 1, 2012 at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Shirley and Jack Robbins Hospice, 526 Pine Mountain Road, Hudson, NC 28638.
