Robert L. "Bob" Haney was born on February 15, 1935 in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Denzil Leland Haney and Irene (Fulfer).

He married Harriet (Klopfleisch) on July 3, 1954 in Shawneetown, Illinois.

Bob spent his youth in Arthur and graduated Arthur High School in 1953. He then attended Eastern Illinois University achieving a Bachelors of Science and then received his Masters from the University of Illinois. Bob began his career as a High School teacher in Herscher, IL and then entered the service in the US Army where he served in active duty and then in the Army Reserves. Bob then taught high school in Gibson City, IL, where his children were born. Bob then moved to Olney in 1967 where he retired as a professor of Speech and Communications at OCC after 28 years. Bob enjoyed his retirement to the fullest; he traveled for Pacific Cycle for 13 years, he golfed, he fished, and he enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Petroleum Club and Elks.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Harriet Haney of Olney, son, Scott Haney and wife Sherri of The Woodlands, TX, daughter, Jill Laughlin and Scott Fore of Olney, daughter, Kari Runyon and husband Doug of Olney, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gene Haney.
