GALVESTON- Jesse M. Womack, Sr. age 67 of Galveston died Saturday, March 23, 2002 at John Sealy Hospital.
Funeral Services are set for 11:00 am Saturday, March 30, 2002 at St. Luke Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Wheat officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, March 29, 2002 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home where a wake service will be held from 7:00pm until 8:00pm. Burial will be held at Houston National Cemetery on April 1, 2002 at 10:00am under the direction of Carnes Brothers
Funeral Home.

Born February 10, 1935 in Galveston, Texas to Viola Womack. Jesse was a 1955 graduate of Central High School. He later served in the Navy with seven years of service with honorable discharge. He worked on the Galveston ferryboats from which he retired with 27 years of faithful service.

Preceded in death by his mother, Viola Womack, and sisters Ruth Hamilton and Carolyn Womack.

He leaves to celebrate his life a loving wife of 33 years, Essie M. Womack and five wonderful children: Jesse, Jr. (Tommetria), Dorcel, Leticia, Demeta (Charles) and Stacey, grandchildren Carl, Jr., Anthony, Jr., Dionna, Jesse, Rommell, Lauren, and great grandchild Roman; mother-in-law, Irene Roberson of Washington, Texas.

Also survived by sisters Dorothy Johnson, Doris (Joseph) Banks of Galveston and Joselyn Mathews of Houston, one brother James Womack, Sr. of Denver, Colorado, an aunt and uncle of Los Angeles, California. Other survivors and special friends include sister-in-law Catherine Womack, James Thomas, Charles Jackson, John Franklin, Herman Mills and Isa Dai, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Special thanks to the entire staff on J10A at John Sealy Hospital.
