LORAIN - Resna Lee Cheers, nee Epps, 78, of Lorain passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Amherst Hospital.

She was born October 30, 1934 in Lorain, Ohio and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of New Bethel P.B. Church, joining under the leadership of the late Rev. Cornelius Spraggins. She served 40 years on the Usher Board, was in the Pastor Aide Auxiliary, and was honored for her church membership of 50 years. She was a member of the Lorain County Ushers and Nurses Union for over 40 years and also fellowshipped with Living Word Church.

Resna graduated in the first graduating class of St. Joseph Hospital School of Practical Nursing and worked at St. Joseph/Community Hospital as a LPN for 37 years before retiring in 2003. She enjoyed going to church, playing bingo, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Ray O. Jr. (Theresa), Vance (Pam), Andre Sr. and Mark Cheers, all of Lorain; daughters, Donna, Beverly, Valerie, Vanita, and Linda Cheers, all of Lorain; sisters, Judith Laster-Adkisson (James), Ilene Epps, and Alberta Epps; 26 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Resna was preceded in death by her husband, Ray O. Cheers Sr.; daughters, Patricia and Lisa Cheers; son, Guy Richard Cheers Sr.; parents, Willie Lee and Sally (nee Bradford) Epps; brother, Staff Sergeant Terry Laster, Lloyd, Vincent, and Arnold Epps; sisters, Orabell Chambers, Dorothy Thomas, Evelyn Stevens, and Loretta Smith; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 from 6-9 p.m. at New Bethel P.B. Church, 3880 Dayton Ave, Lorain, where funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. Rev. Tyrone Holley, Pastor will officiate.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
