George H. Colwick, 80, of New Britain, husband of Audrey (Preisser) Colwick, died Monday (Sept. 23, 2002) in Farmington. Born in New Britain, CT. on May 2, 1922 he was a faithful servant of the lord and long time New Britain resident, he was a graduate of New Britain High School in 1941 and attended Hillyer College in Hartford. A WWII US Army veteran, Mr. Colwick was an engineer at Royal Typewriter, which later became Conica. He retired in 1987 after 45 years with the company. A member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in New Britain, He was former Chairman of the Board of Elders; former Chairman of the Board of Deacons; and former building chairman. He was also formerly active with the Girl Scouts in New Britain and the Pulaski High School Boosters Club.
Besides Audrey, his wife of 57 years, he is survived by two sons, William Colwick and his wife Elizabeth of Simpsonville, SC; and Timothy Colwick and his wife Joanne of Lebanon; a daughter, Cynthia Staire and her husband Clifford of Plainville; a brother, Alexander Colwick of New Britain; a sister, Helen Malone of Berlin; 3 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Michael, and Donald Colwick; a sister, Agnes Laurie and a grandson Jonathan Preisser Colwick.
Burial with military honors is in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Newington, CT..
