Robert Frederick Snyder, 58, of Somerville, MA died June 11 at his residence. He was born in St. Marys, son of Robert W. and Malwina Snyder of St. Marys. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School. He received his BA from WV university where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honorary fraternity. He held his masters in philosophy from the University of Cincinnati and his doctorate in education from Harvard University. He taught at Lesley College in Cambridge, MA. He published several books of poetry and was a founding member of the Soupbean Poets, a West Virginia group. From 1972 to 1978 he was the Director of Antioch College/Appalachia in Beckley, WV. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Margaret Snyder, one sister, Yvonne Snyder Farley of St. Albans, WV. Memorial services and burial will be held at a later date with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
