Iver I. Gray, 99, of Route 25, formerly of Woodford Street, Portland, died Friday at a South Portland nursing home.

She was born in Hiram, a daughter of Joseph and Hannah Treadwell Perkins, attended Cornish schools and was a 1917 graduate of Cornish High School. She attended both Gorham and Farmington Normal School.

She taught fora short time in Parsonsfield.

In 1920, she married Aubrey C. Gray. He died in 1965.

Mrs. Gray also worked at Porteous, Mitchell and Braun and at the Grant Knowles stores, Portland.

She was a former member and soloist of the Chestnut Street Methodist Church, Portland, and a current member of the Cornish United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Gray was one of the first members of the Portland Players and had traveled the state performing in different productions. She was a member of the Portland Drama Club.

She was the first woman to vote in the town of Cornish and enjoyed horse racing.

She was a very close friend of Joan Wenglcerz.

Surviving are five nephews, Linwood Perkins, Jackson Perkins and Stanley Cahill, all of Cornish, Bradley Perkins of Standish and Gerald Sawyer of North Whitefield.

Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at York Funeral Chapel, Cornish. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hillside Congregational Church, Cornish, with the Rev. Denis Dunn and the Rev. Albert Earl officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Portland.
