He served in the 451st Bomber Squadron in Italy during World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps. Prior to his retirement, he served pastorates of United Methodist Churches including Broxton, Mount Vernon-Ailey, Stripling Terrace in Columbus, Blakely, St. Marys, Garden City in Savannah, Ward Memorial in Blackshear, Martha Memorial at Bristol, Patterson, and Friendship in Alma. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Johnson Pafford of Waycross, 3 sons: John Clark Pafford, Jr and Timothy Pafford of Waycross, and Michael Pafford of Blackshear, 1 sister: Marion P Ludlam of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla, 2 brothers: H.M. Pafford and Erin W Pafford of Waycross, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Wednesday December 3, 1998 at 11 a.m. Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
