Raymond E. Ayers, 69, Leighton, Ala., died Sept. 30, 2009. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and Alabama football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenard and Mable Ayers.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judy Shelton Ayers; brothers, Hillard R. and wife, Vadra Ayers, James and wife, Martha Ayers, Nolon and wife, Linda Ayers, Gaither and wife, Judith Ayers. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.He was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church.
The visitation was Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in the chapel, with burial at Poplar Creek Cemetery. Brother Bill Uhlam and Brother Bobby Amos will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.
