Wasilla resident STANLEY CLIFFORD BRANSON, 69, died June 15, 2000, at Providence Alaska Medical Center from complications related to Alzheimer's Disease. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel with Robert Branson officiating. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 11 a.m. at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Following the services, a reception will be held at the Branson home in Wasilla. Mr. Branson was born July 6, 1930, in Syracuse, Kan., and graduated from Las Animas High School in Las Animas, Colo., in 1946. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Sept. 11, 1946, to Sept. 10, 1949, and moved to Alaska in 1949. He lived in Kodiak for one year, Anchorage for 20 years, and Wasilla for the last 24 years. Mr. Branson was involved in the construction industry in Anchorage and Wasilla for more than 40 years, and from 1950 to 1952, attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking with his dog, Bitsy. He was fascinated by astronomy and geology and took educational courses in both. His family said: ''Stanley was a gentle man who was both kind and honest. He was a hard worker all his life and became a partner in a successful construction/property investment business. Stanley enjoyed recalling the early years in Alaska, especially his time spent at Kodiak as a very young marine. He made many hair-raising trips in and out of Alaska in his small Taylor Craft airplane.'' Mr. Branson is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughters, Judy and Linda; sons, Alan, Roger and Bradley; stepsons, Scott and Glenn Klindera; grandchildren, Brian, Clint, Alyssa and Ben; brother, Bob; sisters, Marilyn and Margaret; mother, Helen; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous Marine and high school buddies. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence; and his oldest brother, Bill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Palmer Senior Citizens Adult Day Services, 831 S. Chugach St., Palmer, 99645 or Alzheimer's Association, 240 E. Tudor Road, No. 110, Anchorage 99503.
