GREENSBORO - Richard Lee Jarrett, 88, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.
Richard was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on Nov. 27, 1923, the son of Gordon and Anna Brockman Jarrett. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Germany during WW II. After the war, he returned to Indianapolis and enrolled at Butler University and was in the ROTC program.
Following graduation, he went into the US Air Force, commissioned at 2nd Lieutenant and retired from the Air Force Reserve with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
In the private sector, Richard worked for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Upon retirement from HUD, he was a real estate appraiser and real estate broker.
Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years, Edna Farlow Jarrett of the home and cousins: Doris Jarrett Whisnant of Hickory, NC, Robert Jarrett of Englewood, FL, Walker Sharp of Lizton, IN, and Rober t Brockman of Glen Arm, MD.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel with Rev. Ben Hurley officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
