Evelyn was born on December 3, 1927 in Jacksonville, IL, the daughter of Daniel and Helen (Taylor) Evans. She married Robert H. Schumacher on June 17, 1950 in Milan, IL. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1964. Ms. Evans left school at thre age of 13 to care for her mother who had cancer. Helen died when she was 15. Her father wanted her to get a job and she wanted to go back to school. Her father didn't come home one day, simply abandoning her. She sold off the household goods to buy a bus ticket to Winchester, IL, where she lived with her aunt. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1945. Evelyn was a proud member of the Mary Little Deere, Fort Armstrong Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a direct decendent of Daniel Boone. Evelyn retired as Seriaals Coordinator for John Deere. Mrs. Schumacher was a member of Indian Bluff 9 Hole Ladies Golf League, played in many bridge clubs and served as a guide at the Putnam Museum. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great happiness.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Christine Schumacher, Port Byron, grandchildren Daniel Hemphill and Adrianne Huffman, and great grandchildren, Justin Hemphill and Adam Franks.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Sally Johnston.
