NOTE: There is a Robert Bailie Jr. in the 1850 Scott Co., Census. There was also a Robert Bailie that was Post Master at Natural Tunnell from Nov. 13, 1860 to Aug. 22, 1866.

BIRTH: Grave marker says b. 6/24/1818. 1900 census had Jun 1818.
Scott Co census: 1850, 1860 (#1174), 1870 (Taylor #207), 1880 (Taylor #453),
1900 (Taylor #103, m-8, 0-0 ch; incl Callie Enox 31, niece and Thomas G. Jones, age 4, ward).

Scott Co Marriage Records 1-68, 2-100-41. Marr 2, he was widower, she was single. (Sarah J. Vermillion)

Household included Elgy M. (17, g-dau) & Harmon T. (14, g-son) in 1880.
He had a niece, Callie Enox (11/1869) and a ward, Thomas G. Jones (1/1896) with him in 1900 census.

He was executor of his father's estate.

He was appointed administrator of Ellen's estate and posted bond of $100 with Ephraim Hickam on 10 Nov 1875. (Scott Co Va Record Bonds Book 2-252)

He and son William T. Bailie posted a bond of $100 on 14 Nov 1876 when he became the Guardian for Elgy M. Peterson, a minor heir of Albert M. Peterson. (Scott Co VA Record Bonds Book 2-276.) Both signed the bond.

On 10/31/1845, he paid $250 for 100 acres on Stock Creek in Scott Co, VA from David Neely Sr & Peggy his wife. This land lay between the 50 acres that Bailie purchased from Hiram Kilgore and William Mitchell's land. (Scott Co Deed Book 8-81)

On 10/5/1848, he paid $300 for two tracts of 50 acres and 12 acres (24 acres?) on Stock Creek in Scott Co, VA from Hiram Kilgore and Mary his wife. The 50 acres was the land that Richard Baker purchased from William James and John James. The 12 acres adjoined the 50 acres and was the interest of James Caldwell and Elijah Stewart and an improvement of 12 acres in the McCrady land of a large survey. (Scott Co Deed Book 9-95)

On 10/5/1850, he sold 91 acres to Ezekiel B. Rhoton for $150. This land was on Copper Creek in Scott Co, VA. (Scott Co Deed Book 9-314) [This may be the land he inherited from his father? How could he sell it before his father's will was executed?)

On 10/17/1851, he paid $50 for 50 acres on Stock Creek in Scott Co, VA, from David Neely Jr. This land lay between the land that Bailie bought from Elisha Walling and Purchase Ridge. (Scott Co Deed Book 9-451)

On 10/18/1851, he paid $150 for 33 acres on Stock Creek in Scott Co, VA, from Elisha Walling and Hannah his wife. This land was between Wm Mitchell's land and Johnathan Hale's land and adjoined Bailie's land that he bought from David Neely. (Scott Co Deed Book 9-448)

On 6/12/1866, he paid $300 for 50 acres on Stock Creek in Scott Co, VA, from Joseph T. Lane and Jane his wife. (Scott Co Deed Book 14-8)

On 3/1/1877, he paid $15 for 2 acres on Stock Creek in Scott Co, VA, from Synthian Horton, W.M. Horton and Thomas T. Horton. This was part of the land deeded by Wm Mitchell to the Hortons. (Scott Co Deed Book 17-226)

On 8/4/1877, he paid $195 (of which $100 was paid in confederate money in Dec 1863) for 68 and 19/20 acres on Stock Creek in Scott Co, VA, from Henry S. Kane and Sarah his wife. (Scott Co Deed Book 17-125)

On 2/25/1882, he paid $800 for 60 acres in Scott Co, VA. This land lay in a hollow above where Bailie lived and a portion extended to Stock Creek below Bailie's land and adjoined the land of David Horton and Rohert Hill. (Scott Co Deed Book 20-133)

His estate was divided in six lots of approximately 50 acres each in his estate settlement. (Scott Co Deed Book 45-373)

A note by Robert Carnahan said he was accompanied by cousin Robert Baily and Robert Hill when he went to Clay Co, KY, from Scott Co, VA after Robert Carnahan deserted the CSA Army in 1861/2.
