He was born on Oct. 31, 1924 in West Brandywine Twp., Chester Co. Edgar was the son of the late Edgar D. Sr. and Margaret (Byerly) Boyer.
He was the husband of the late Phyllis M. Boyer, who died on Oct. 26, 2011.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during WWII.
He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses being dedicated and baptized for over 60 years.
Edgar retired after 30 years as a chief operator for Sun Oil Company. He and his late wife raised their granddaughter, Jennifer, and a nephew.
Edgar was known for being at the corner of his Brandamore property greeting neighbors and strangers alike with a nod or a wave.
Edgar enjoyed trips to the beach to deep-sea fish. He is survived by his three sons, Ronald Boyer of Gum Tree, Mark Boyer of Elverson, and Gary Boyer of Brandamore; two daughters, Barbara Keffer of Douglassville and Beverly Peppernick of Honey Brook; a brother, Harold; and a sister, Betty. Also by 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa. with Elder James Lohr officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at the Forks of the Brandywine Cemetery.
