LAFORGE - J. D. Akins, 74, died Sept. 12, 2005, at his home. Born Feb. 27, 1931, in Marston, son of the late J.D. and Avis Autry Akins Sr., he was a member of Boilermakers Union 27, New Madrid Eagles Aerie 4206 and the Powerhouse Church of God in Sikeston. On Sept. 27, 1975, in Georgia, he married Dixie M. Chambliss who survives of the home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Tony Akins; one grandson, Jimmy Joe Akins, Jr.; three brothers, Earl Akins, Loyal Akins and Dewey Akins; two sisters, Ola Akins and Joy Sweet Akins; and one stepdaughter, Venus Kimball; and one grandson, Jimmy Joe Akins Jr.
