Verna was born June 27, 1937, Ramsey, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Edna (Black) Carter. She married Byron "Barney" Baker on June 7, 1957, in Decatur. Verna worked at Walgreens for 25 years.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Byron, of Decatur; son Stormey Baker and wife Connie of Pulaski, TN; daughter Wendie Mae Baker of Decatur; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Joy Rice of Decatur; brother David E. Carter and wife E. May of Decatur. Verna was preceded in death by her parents, son Gale Lynn Baker and brother Torney Ray Carter.
