Drowned at Rice Lake.
Wilfred Landon, the eight year old son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Landon, was drowned at Rice lake on Wednesday. In company with another boy about his own age he was engaged in fishing standing on the logs when in some manner he slipped and fell into the water. His companion gave the alarm but it was an hour before the body was recovered, it being in eight feet of water, and life was extinct. Mr. Landon is a millwright in the employ of the Brainerd Lumber Co. The parents have the sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement. (Brainerd Dispatch, 05 August 1898, p. 8, c. 2)
