Grant Gwinn, a highly respected and prosperous citizen, formerly a resident of Green Sulphur district, near Lockbridge, died Saturday at his home at Clute, where he had resided for the past three years. His death was due to typhoid fever, from which dread disease he had been ill since July 1.
He was engaged in the mercantile business at Clute and was a very successful business man. He is survived by his widow and seven children.
The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon. The funeral sermon being preached by Rev Scott of the M E Church of which deceased was a member. The remains were buried in the Andrew Gwinn graveyard near Lockbridge. The burial was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
It is said that seven members of the family have been stricken with typhoid during the year, but the father was the only one who succumbed to the disease.
