He was born June 26, 1928 in Elyria and was a 1947 graduate of Elyria High School.
He attended Bowling Green State University and received an associate degree from Lorain County Community College.
He was employed at General Industries in Elyria and then as an estimator for 25 years at Timms Spring Company, from where he retired
He was a 6 term 4th Ward councilman and ran for the State Senate 13th District.
He was a charter member of the Silver Wheels and an advocate of Rails to Trails.
Bob was an avid bicyclist who rode throughout the United States and Europe. For 15 years, he raised thousands of dollars for MS by participating in Pedal to the Point 150.
Bob was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He was also a member of Elyria Senior Fellowship and Elyria Evening Lions Club.
Other interests included golf, woodworking, gardening and family camping.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, whom he met at BGSU, Lois L. (nee Berg); daughters Lynne Hreha and Gail (Kent) Sommer; sons Steven (Vicki) Reichard and R. James Reichard; grandchildren Dustin, Travis and Carson Hreha; Lindsey Sommer Braddock, Kari Sommer Halko; Kris Sommer and Ashley Reichard; great grandchildren Ethan Halko and Jace Braddock.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Edna (nee Platz) Reichard; stepfather, Oscar Haserodt and a sister Gene Muntz.
Friends may gather Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until an 11:00 a.m. memorial service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 360 Princeton Ave., Elyria, OH with Reverend Paul E. Jaster officiating.
Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
