OBITUARY - Irene Shattuck May, 91, formerly of the Conrad House, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, September 20, 2005, at the Barnabas Court South at Brevillier Village.
A resident of the Erie area all of her life, she was born in Millcreek Twp. on January 8, 1914, a daughter of the late Arthur and Pearl Weidler Shattuck..
She had been an active member of the E. Lake Road Alliance Church (formerly Lawrence Park Christian & Missionary Alliance) and attended the former Erie Gospel Tabernacle and First Alliance Christian & Missionary Alliance Church. She had taught Sunday School for many years at the East Greene Presbyterian Church and also taught Bible School. She had volunteered at the Brevillier Village and Conrad House, concentrating on visitation of the sick and shut-ins. She was one of the founders of the Thursday morning worship service at Barnabas Court. A 1932 graduate of Academy High School, she attended the Boston Bible Training School.
Survivors include two sons, James May and his wife Linda, of Greenfield Twp., and Dr. George May and his wife, Linda of Slidell, LA.; two daughters, Marilyn Turner and her husband DuWayne, of Union City, and Susan Zielinski and her husband David of McKean; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wallace S. May on February 16, 1986; a brother Arthur Weidler Shattuck; two sisters, Luella Eutsler and Ruth Shattuck.
Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie handled the arrangements. Rev. Richard Rubeis officiated the services.
Interment in Wales Cemetery.
