Michael Masterson age 72 of Lohrville, Iowa and formerly of What Cheer, Iowa died Monday at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Inurnment in the Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg, Iowa.

Michael Francis Masterson was the son of John E and Catherine Berniece Crowley Masterson. He graduated in 1960 from Manson High School. He enlisted in the US Army where he served his country in the Vietnam War. He was the father of Kathy Masterson

After his honorable discharge from the military he moved to What Cheer and began working as a heavy equipment operator for Manatts. After a long career with the company Michael eventually moved to Lohrville, Iowa in 1988.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching horse races. His favorite teams included the Green Bay Packers, Boston Celtics, Notre Dame or any other team that symbolized the Irish heritage. Michael was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He will be remembered as a confident, caring man who kept to himself.
