Deceased Name: LOU AVIS PHILLIPS

Lou Avis Phillips, a devoted mother, grandmother, family member, and woman of God was called home to glory on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Va. She was born Nov. 13, 1927, to Herman and Roxie Arnold in Center, Texas.
Lou Avis was a true woman of God who never complained during her illness and always made life happy and pleasant for everyone with whom she came in contact.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her beloved husband, Mosby Phillips.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Mavis Benee' Phillips Clark; grandchildren, Arletha Faith Benee' Clark and Zachery Clark; sister- in-law, Sarah Maureen Taliaferro, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at First Baptist Church, Hockley. The family will receive guests from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at J. K. Redmond Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the church's cemetery.
