Mr. Andrew Sanders "Red" Floyd, age 93, of Hampton, Georgia passed away September 23, 2013. Mr. Floyd was born in Henry County the son of the late Willie Clarence and Minnie Ellen Conkle Floyd. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Mary Floyd Carter and Willie Grady Floyd.
Mr. Floyd served his country in the US Army, worked for Southern States in Hampton for 38 years, was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon then was elected as a Deacon Emeritus.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and when his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren came around a special spark was seen in his eyes. He was known for being a simple man that enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and reading.
Survivors are his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Jean Payne Floyd of Hampton; children, Sara Ellen (Wayne) Head, Timothy Floyd, Michael (Melainie) Floyd, Jean (Pete) Fransen, Robin (Todd) Trent, Nancy (Rob) DewBerry, Linda Roy, Sarah (Joe) Mejias all of Hampton; 22 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren.
Funeral service for Mr. Floyd will be Thursday, September 26, 2013 – 2:00 PM at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Patterson, Rev. Mike Henderson, and Rev. Chuck Conkle officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 – 4:00 and 6 – 8:00 PM.
