Evalora Eastland, 86, OIathe, KS, passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2004, at the Stanley Bible Church. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 143rd & Blackbob Rd., in Olathe, (913) 768-6777. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and/or the Stanley Bible Church. Evalora was born August 9, 1918, in Princeton, MO, to Lora and Eva McCulley and grew up in the Richter, KS, community near Ottawa. She attended Ottawa University and hosted and sang on an amateur radio broadcast. She was united in marriage to Leonard E. Eastland on September 28, 1941, in Towanda, KS. She went on to reside with her husband on the family farm in Stanley, KS. Evalora was a lifelong 4-H member and community leader, noted especially for coaching 4-H one-act plays. She wrote local columns for the Olathe News and the Blue Valley Gazette. She was a lifelong member and former choir director for the Stanley Bible Church. She leaves her husband of 62 years, Leonard E. Eastland; daughter, Lola and husband, Gary Abbott; son, Leonard "Bud" and wife, Teresa Eastland; brothers, Lee and wife, Edna McCulley, and Lowell and wife, Marilyn McCulley; six grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. The family would like to thank all for their thoughts and prayers.
