Gwen Lorraine McDonald, age 55, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at her home in Deseret, Utah. She was born January 12, 1958, the daughter of Zada Robison and Dan McDonald.

She lived most of her life in Delta or Deseret. Growing up in Deseret she helped the family on the farm and learned quickly to hold her own with her three brothers. Being a bit clumsy at times she never seemed to meet a cactus that didn't have her name on it and she would somehow wind up being stuck with needles.

For many years she enjoyed playing softball and the many relationships she made with her teammates. Although she was never known for her running speed – she gave her all too every game she played. She enjoyed camping, four wheeling and fishing with family and friends. She enjoyed spending time on the west desert with her family – even though she would get lost just turning around.

Working at the Rancher or Jade restaurants for over 25 years, she cooked thousands of meals and made a lot of friendships that she enjoyed until her health prevented her from working. She assisted her mother during the four years before her mother passed last year.

Gwen loved her five grandchildren whom she talked about all the time. They would bet on NFL football games and traded dollars bills back and forth all season. She was also a little bit of a trouble maker teaching them how to be mischievous at times.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dan and Zada McDonald; and her brother: Dan R McDonald. She is survived by her son: Ben McDonald; daughter-in-law: Mariah; granddaughters: Jordan, Jerri, and Meah; grandsons: Teegan and Taven, all of Deseret; brothers: Wells McDonald, Bountiful; and Russell McDonald, Airway Heights, Washington; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at 11:00 AM, at the Nickle Mortuary Chapel. Viewing will be held 9:30-10:40 AM, prior to the service. Burial will be in the Deseret Cemetery.
