Hazel B. Gough, age 88, of Oliver Springs, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006.
She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Mrs. Gough was always a very vibrant lady and will always be remembered for her love of cake baking, gardening, and crocheting. As a lasting remembrance of her passion for crocheting, a display of her work will be placed on her casket, in her memory, for all to enjoy.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, the Rev. Alvie H. "Tom" Gough; parents, Sib E. and Ethel Lane Burgess; infant daughter, Iris Yvonne Gough; son, Jerry A. Gough; sisters, Julia Ann Peters, Ida B. Smith, Jewel B. Shrader, and Marie B. Smith; brothers, James "Jim" Burgess and Vincent Burgess.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry G. Konopka and her husband, Joe of Oliver Springs; granddaughters, Leigh-Anna Konopka of Studio City, Calif., Dana G. Baas of Oliver Springs, Anna G. DeWitt of Yuba City, Calif., Jeree G. Sharp of Everett, Wash., and Ginger G. Hamlin of Fairbanks, Alaska; sisters, Melva and Tommy Roberts of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Beulah E. "Boots" and Shelton Prigmore of Trussville, Ala.; brothers, Malcolm and Shelby Burgess of Dunlap, Tenn., Mitchell "Mickey" D. and Rosemarie Burgess of San Antonio, Texas, and Sib E. and Glorea Burgess of Wartburg; sister-in-law, Imogene Burgess of Coalfield.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Bro. Keith Price and Bro. Steve McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery.
